People Make Us Different

Sonny Shinn
Sonny Shinn For 33 years I've been an owner that could do everything if needed. The best way to put that is I have done it. On most days, I'm at the plant enjoying my customers and my great employees. I'm also there to help anyway that I can. I'm one of those hands-on owners.

Sharon Chadwick
Sharon Chadwick Sharon has worked for Shinn's for 14 years. We call her our Customer Service Manager. She's great with customers. Sharon does most of the dry cleaning the best way it can be done and she's really good at it. I would put her against anyone in our state. Most cleaners don't spot clean before they put clothes in the machine; we do. By doing it in advance, we only have to clean it once and your clothes last longer. Sharon can do most of the jobs in the store if needed. Come see her and you'll love her.

Fernanda Harris
Fernanda Harris Fernanda is our Production Manager. She's been with us for 14 years. She started just a few months after my mother passed away and I think God knew I needed a very special person. Her job is to check all the dry cleaning pieces to see if they are pressed correctly. On most days, this is a very smooth job, but she works very hard at it. She then puts the orders together. She's very good at this - I call her the computer that never breaks down. She's very good with customers and they love her smile. Fernanda works hard to please everyone.

Mike McGeorge
Mike McGeorge Mike's been with us for 14 years. He runs the pickup and delivery routes. Most mornings, you'll find Mike working the front counter taking in clothes. He gets to know the customers and then can add them to his route if they move out of our area. Mike also has a great knowledge of how we want clothes cleaned. He's been a great asset to the business.

Leon Spearman
Leon Spearman Leon is one of the Professional Pants Pressers working for us. Leon has been pressing pants for us for 25 years. There is not a better pants presser in this part of the country. All he needs to know is what you want and he'll do it. In the old days there was only one way to do it. Now days, people want creases, no creases, pleats connected to creases, etc. It's not as easy as it looks to get it right every time. The best way I can put it is if I have a pair of $200 pants, I wouldn't want someone who just left a job cooking hamburgers to be the one doing the pressing; would you? At Shinn's, it's a guarantee that he'll be here to do it right. He's only missed 10 days of work in the last 25 years. I don't know what I'd do without him. Leon was 19 when he came to work for us, I hope someday I can pay him back for the last 25 years; I know God will. He's a very hard worker.

Sue Perkins
Sue Perkins Sue is a Professional Ladies Clothing Presser. She's been with Shinn's for 25 years. I don't know who came first, Sue or Leon. I do know, however, that year was when God blessed me with two great people and two of the best pressers in the country. If Sue can't do it right, no one can. Ladies, you don't want just anyone pressing your finest clothing. The clothing she presses today is not easy, but Sue never complains. Thank you, Sue.

Charlotte Baugh
Charlotte Baugh Charlotte has been with us for 7 years. She is now a Professional Pants Presser. In my book, you have to do this job for about 5 years to get this title. On most days, she helps press pants, and runs the shirt washers (one for starch and one for no-starch). Charlotte can operate any of the machines in the plant. She is one of the hardest workers I have and she helps in any way she can.

Tommie Worthy
Tommie Worthy Tommie started to work for us in the late 70's. She's left a couple of times, so we can't say how long she's been here; but all told, it's around 15 years. My dad and I worked with Tommie to teach her how to dry clean and she is very good at it - maybe one of the best in the country. She also helps press dry cleaning and inspects shirts for us. On top of that, she can press a shirt perfectly. She can do any job in the cleaners and is one of the best around.

Adam Wilson
Adam Wilson Adam started working for Shinn's in 1986. He is deaf, so at first I had trouble communicating with him. Eventually I could do it well. Adam presses laundered pants, shirts, and table cloths and he's very good at it. I could talk about Adam all day, he helps in so many ways. If a hard job that has nothing to do with dry cleaning needs to be done, Adam is the one that does it with no questions asked.

Kathy Morrison
Kathy Morrison Kathy is a Shirt Presser and our newest employee. For us, that means she's been here about 5 years total. She's left twice and has come back each time, so we must be doing something right. She may have only been here a short time, but she's good at what she does.
